Client: European power generation company

Project size: 350 MW / 1,400 MWh

Task: Commercial and contractual management of the EPC tender, including preparation of tender documents, bidder clarifications, tender evaluation, negotiations and contract award.

Target: Select a technically and commercially suitable EPC contractor, establish a clear allocation of risks and interfaces, and minimise potential delays and claims during project execution.

Project details: Development of a large-scale battery energy storage system at the site of a former coal-fired power plant in Germany. The project includes the integration of the BESS into the existing site infrastructure and its connection through an existing transformer. The EPC tender involves international battery suppliers and construction companies and covers engineering, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning.

Outcome: Tender and negotiation process ongoing. Particular focus is placed on clear technical interfaces, performance guarantees, programme flexibility, integration of existing infrastructure and the prevention of claims.
